Indonesia Re Budgets IDR 19 billion to Develop MSMEs Throughout Indonesia

Jakarta, 17 July 2017 (Antara) - Indonesian reinsurance company, Indonesia Re, budgeted more than IDR 19 billion to help develop Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL) in 2017.

Met at the Indonesia Re office on Friday (14/7), PKBL & CSR Group Head Indonesia Re, Fredi Aries Setiawan, said that the presence of Indonesia Re in the Partnership and Community Development Program (PKBL) was part of the state-owned company's efforts to help build capacity, building and the independence of MSMEs throughout Indonesia.

"PKBL is very important to develop MSMEs and businesses in all regions. Indonesia's involvement is a form of support to advance the national economy," said Fredi.

Through PKBL, the fostered partners are not only loaned with capital, but also guided and trained so that they can run their business independently in the future.

"The fostered partners will receive training, business development, and the formation of cooperatives as a means of buying and selling their business products," said Fredi.

Cooperation with PNM

Indonesia Re collaborates with Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) in holding community programs to create SOE Synergy that focuses on capacity building for MSMEs throughout Indonesia.

"Since we do not have a branch office, cooperation with PNM allows us to get the right fostered partners from all corners of Indonesia," continued Fredi.

Met at a separate occasion, PNM BUMN Comdev Program Officer, Ronald Rama Lesmana, said that cooperation with Indonesia Re is a form of SOE Synergy that is felt directly by the community, especially MSMEs. "Hopefully this collaboration can last a long time so that the benefits of SOE Synergy can have a positive impact on the development of MSMEs throughout Indonesia," said Ronald.

After successfully holding PKBL in Central Java and Yogyakarta last year, Indonesia Re has now penetrated the provinces of East Java, Riau, West Sumatra and Bali.

Fredi hopes that more MSMs from various remote areas will be reached by PKBL knowing that its role is potential but still not explored due to limited funds and capabilities.

"We hope that our partners will not only be independent in their business, but also be able to support the economy in their respective regions," Fredi concluded.
