Bogor (ANTARA) - The golf tournament for the Indonesian insurance industry, Re-PGAI Matchplay 2019, officially closed on Thursday (25/4) in Bogor, West Java. Increasingly competitive from year to year, this annual golf competition has given birth to a new rank of champions.

Deputy Director of the Indonesian Golf Insurance Association (PGAI) Tournament Haddad Rauf said it is almost certain that the defending champion will never be able to defend his title. This is because the ability and competitiveness of PGAI members continue to grow from year to year.

"Defending champions never survive, at most in the top four. This year's 1st Matchplay winner was not in the top four last year," he said when met on the sidelines of the 2019 Indonesia Re - PGAI Matchplay trophy.
The ranks of the winners are as follows:

2019 Matchplay Category:

- 1st place winner I Pack A. Yani from Tugu Kresna Pratama

- 2nd place winner of Rafiuddrajat Hasibuan from Pan Pacific

- 3rd place winner of Bunbun Machbub from Amanah Gita

- 4th place winner Harmen from Adira Insurance

Stroke Play 2019 Category:

- 1st place winner  Kukuh Widodo

- 2nd place winner Yenno Munir

- 3rd place winner Basuki Agus

In line with Haddad, Arie Surya Nugraha as the General Reinsurance CEM and Administration Division Head Indonesia Re, who is the sole sponsor of this annual tournament, stated that the members' persistence in competing had increased.

"In the past, someone often won a walk-out because the participant was stuck with office assignments. In the last few years, almost no one has walked out," said Arie.

To continue to improve the competitiveness of members, especially those in the top four Matchplay categories, Indonesia Re and PGAI routinely involve the best members to compete in the United Golf Indonesia (PGI) amateur golf tournament.
"We are committed to continuously raising the standards and playing capabilities of our members," he continued.

This year marks the fourth year Indonesia Re becomes the sole sponsor of this annual tournament. In addition to full support for the implementation of matchplay, this state-owned company also provides support for the entire series of PGAI activities for a full year, such as training activities and role play certification to increase the competence and abilities of golfers in the national insurance industry.

Met on the same occasion, the winner of the first podium in Indonesia Re - PGAI Matchplay 2019, Kemas A. Yani, stated that golf is a very effective instrument to find out a person's true character, especially in business.

"Trust is the key word in doing business in the financial services industry. To get it, we must first know the character of our business partners when competing here," he concluded.
