PRESS RELEASE MINISTRY OF SOEs Minister Rini: SOEs Are Getting Stronger and Stronger to Serve the Country

JAKARTA, March 6, 2019 - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Rini Soemarno revealed that the current state of BUMN is getting stronger and stronger as performance continues to grow. This is reflected in the BUMN performance reports throughout 2018. Where assets, profits, equity, capital expenditures (capex) to contributions to the state budget in the form of taxes, PNBP, and dividends also increased significantly.
 
As of December 31, 2018, the total assets of BUMN have exceeded the figure of Rp. 8,092 trillion, an increase of Rp. 882 trillion from 2017 achievement of Rp. 7,210 trillion. Total BUMN profits grew to IDR 188 Trillion from IDR 186 Trillion in 2017. The amount of BUMN's contribution in infrastructure development can also be seen from the BUMN capex that increased throughout 2018, reaching IDR 487 Trillion, a significant increase compared to 2017 of IDR 315 Trillion. Where the 2018 Capex is dominated by the infrastructure sector.
 
The contribution of BUMN to the State Budget also jumped to IDR 422 Trillion, an increase of IDR 68 Trillion from 2017 deposits of IDR 354 Trillion. "We will maintain this positive performance and improve it so that SOEs can continue to serve the country, becoming agents of development that focus on improving people's welfare. As stated in the constitutional mandate that SOEs must become agents of development and agents of value creation," said Minister Rini, conveyed in the BUMN Coordination Meeting event at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, last February 28.
 
The Coordination Meeting was attended by all Board of Directors, Commissioners of BUMN, and echelon officials of the Ministry of BUMN. In a series of Coordination activities, they were given briefings by some high-ranking officials from Ministries and Institutions such as the Head of BNN Heru Winarko, Director of LKPP Legal Problem Handling Setya Budi Arijanta, Secretary of the Ministry of BUMN Imam Apriyanto Putro, and presentation of spiritual leadership from KH Ali Nurdin.
 
The concrete manifestation of BUMN's contribution to development is reflected in the increase in land, sea, and air connectivity. On land, BUMN has realized the construction and operation of toll roads along the 782 Km, reactivation of West Java railway lines along 178.8 Km, Palembang LRT, and the construction of the Jabodebek LRT. At sea, BUMN has built 27 new ports, 100 ships supporting the sea highway, increased container capacity to 28.8 TEUs, and Dwelling Time to 3 days from 7 days in 2014. Meanwhile, BUMN has built 10 new airports to support connectivity. air.
 
In the electricity sector, BUMN has contributed to increasing the electrification ratio to 97.2 percent. Supported by an installed electricity capacity of 57,822 Megawatts, 53,000 km of transmission, and 131,000 MVA of substations. Besides, BUMN Synergy has also succeeded in connecting electricity to more than 100 thousand poor families in West Java. Previously, this poor family did not have direct access to PLN electricity and used the neighbors' electricity.
 
BUMN also plays an active role in improving the welfare of the community through some populist economic programs. Throughout 2018, BUMN has distributed IDR 113.9 Trillion People's Business Credit (KUR) to 4.3 million customers and distributed IDR 16.4 Trillion to 4.2 million PNM Mekaar ultra microcredit customers. Then, through the BUMN Creative House (RKB) program which has spread across 209 locations throughout Indonesia, BUMN has fostered 12,522 MSME players and accommodated their products with the Blanja.com application. RKB aims to increase the economic class of MSME players through coaching and learning together.
 
Not only that, but BUMN also realized One Price Fuel at 123 location points in Papua, realized the Agricultural Entrepreneurship program in 9 districts in West Java, and established 76 BUMN Shops in underdeveloped villages in Sukabumi, Tasikmalaya, and Ciamis.
 
"BUMNs also play an active role in creating productive, creative, and innovative young generations of the nation through the Spirit of Millennials program. This program aims to accommodate and invite BUMN youth employees to contribute to building the country," said Minister Rini.
 
Rini also encouraged SOEs to continue to work together and innovate in providing added value for more efficient products and services downstream. The sectors that are currently focused on pursuing downstream are oil and gas and mining. It is hoped that the two sectors can increase the added value of their products to 10 times.
 
To optimize the economic impact of infrastructure development, SOEs are also encouraged to continue the utilization of the Trans Sumatra toll road and the Trans Java toll road that is already operating.
 
"For that in the future, BUMN must increase their acceleration and performance. The role of BUMN as agents of development and value creation agents must also be improved. We have a long way to go, let us continue to work, work, and work for the advancement of Indonesia," said Rini.
