Jakarta (ANTARA) - In welcoming Heroes' Day which falls every November 10th, Indonesia Re organizes social service activities with veterans of the Republic of Indonesia freedom fighters who are members of the Indonesian Veterans Defects Corps (KCVRI).
PKBL and CSR Group Head of Indonesia Re, Freddy Aries Setiawan, said that social service activities with KCVRI are a form of Indonesia's Re commitment to contribute to the welfare of Indonesian veterans.
"The independence we feel today is none other than thanks to the struggle and sacrifice of the fighters. For this reason, Indonesia Re wants to share with their remaining fighters or their families," he said at the social activity in Jakarta.
KCVRI is a part of the Republic of Indonesia Legion of Veterans (LVRI) organization which is an association of veteran fighters for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia. As the name implies, KCVRI is a group of veterans who must be willing to lose parts of their bodies because they struggle to fight and defend Indonesia's independence.
Freddy continued, that the Company handed over a total of assistance worth Rp130 million in the form of compensation and food packages to around 200 members of the corps founded in 1946.
"The compensation may not be a large number, but we hope that it will be useful and this assistance can be sustainable in the future," he added.
On this same occasion, KCVRI Heroes Day Committee Secretary, Supendi, expressed his appreciation for Indonesia Re's initiative to share with all KCVRI families throughout Indonesia.
"Hopefully in the future, Indonesia Re will regularly hold similar events to help the welfare of veterans," he wished.
