Contending state duties, Indonesia Re provides scholarships and housing assistance

Jakarta (Antara News) – Indonesia Re offers scholarships to the children of their employees, as well as funding assistance for employee housing, as part of the company's Community Development and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, as well as a series of activities to embody the slogan BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri or State-Owned Enterprises for the country.

President Director of Indonesia Re, Frans Y. Sahusilawane, revealed that in 2019 the government will focus on developing education in the country, while in 2018 it focused to boost the infrastructure sector in the 3T or disadvantaged, foremost, and outermost areas.

"This is a form of translating the current government of the Republic of Indonesia, to carry out its duties to prosper the people. This is also in line with the 5th principle of Pancasila," said Frans in his remarks before handing out support at the Indonesia Re office, Wednesday (12/12).

Educational scholarships are awarded in two categories. The first is a one-year scholarship for the children of Indonesia Re employees who attend elementary, junior high and high school levels. The elementary level is provided Rp500.000 per semester, junior high level with Rp700.000 per semester, and high school level is provided Rp1 million.

Indonesia Re also provides scholarships for the children of their employees who excel in their respective schools. Two children were granted a scholarship of Rp6 million for they made it into the top three rankings in SD and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Three other children earned Rp8.5 million for ranking top three in junior high school, and one child earned Rp8.5 million for achieving the highest UNBK score in junior high.

"We don't want our employees' children to have to drop out of school, or to make a living helping their parents. This is why we offer this, so they can focus on learning and pursuing their dreams," said Frans.

Regarding employee housing funding assistance, Indonesia Re provided Rp25 million each to seven employees for house renovation needs, and Rp10 million each to seven employees for the purposes of making house certificates. The selected employees are those who are in the level of low income in the company.

Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary Indonesian Re, Novis Asria, added that CSR activities must be started internally in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprise.

"We hope that this effort can further increase the morale of both employees and their children," he said.
