Jakarta (ANTARA) - The people of Panggang Island, Kepulauan Seribu, appreciate the environmental activities carried out by, Indonesia Re, in order to help maintain the conservation of marine ecosystems and biota in them.
The Head of Pulau Panggang Village, Pepen Kusnadi, revealed that his party hopes that the presence of the Indonesia Re Environment activities will not only help preserve marine ecosystems, but also improve the economy of local communities.
"We welcome this effort because most people here rely on the sea for our livelihoods," he said.
Through this activity, the state-owned company has planted mangrove seedlings, transplanted coral reefs, and built floating houses as a diving activity center for tourists visiting Panggang Island.
Furthermore, he also hopes that Indonesia Re's steps will be followed by other corporations, so that the ecosystem of Panggang Island and its surroundings will be more preserved.
"I hope that the presence of Indonesia Re can unite the interests of the community while protecting the environmental ecosystem with the national park and its surrounding communities," he continued.
On the same occasion, environmental activist on Panggang Island, Sahapudin, revealed that Indonesia Re is the first agency present on Panggung Island to help preserve the environmental ecosystem.
In the future he hopes that Indonesia Re can help Panggang Island to be able to process its own waste without having to send it to Jakarta again.
"We still hope and dream the possibility to be able to process our own waste. Because cleanliness will guarantee a life based on conservation, ”said the man who is familiarly called Lupus.
Mangrove trees were chosen because apart from being a place for fish to spawn, they are also a source of abundant food for fish. The coral reef was chosen not only because it is a habitat for marine life, but also to enrich marine life.
At the event, Corporate Secretary Division Head Indonesia Re, Novis Asria, mentioned 'Indonesia Re Cares for the Environment' program in the Thousand Islands has been carried out since 2017, to be precise on Kelapa Dua Island, where the Company also planted coral reefs.
"In early 2019 we started visiting Panggang Island, and will plan to do so for the next three years," he concluded.
